1. Muhammad, your return today bears no stain,
Nor were you in grueling wars stripped bare.

2. Your father, whom none could match in horsemanship,
Was Ali, and the Prophet named you Muhammad.

3. Had your father truly been the caliph,
You would have been, but this cannot be seen.

4. By God's grace, you are the greatest victor
In speech, and your hands grasp what they possess.

5. The nearest of all to every good you seek
Is Quraysh, truest to every promise made.

6. And the bravest, whose lance pierces his foe's chest,
Clothing resolve for them in coats of mail.

7. Except for your two lordly brothers,
The Imam of mankind and the callers to guidance.

8. God refused the enemies a position
On earth or a path and means to ascend.
