Darkness shone and the full moon began to set

9. I saw a face and when I did I said
I wonder what the young women would say

10. Wine didn’t dye the cheeks red
The cheeks were dyed by fingers beforehand

11. Intoxicated with coyness and pride’s power
When she stood, her joints did not fail her

12. She bent using a withered branch in her drunkenness
How odd that a branch from the gardens would wither

13. If I don’t say what the painful separation brought
What a pity, for yearning keeps speaking

14. I didn’t declare my secret fearing your blame
But loose talk reveals hidden matters

15. We indulge those who keep those we love
And favors won’t remain for those who don’t indulge

16. Wherever I see an intimate bond
There lies an envious one, awake and blaming
