1. The lover's soul finds its remedy in its malady,
Its bliss is from the place of its misery.

2. So when can it be cured of its sickness,
When its sickness stems from the place of its cure?

3. In love there is a spellbinding of minds,
For it shrouds the souls with its ailment and remedy.

4. The quintessence of passion nurtures the souls of the passionate,
While the soul is not nurtured but by its nourishment.

5. Verily passion makes the steadfast go astray
And casts a spell on the eyes of gazelles.

6. The passionate are like the winds
Whose withering is seen when their waters separate.

7. With their hair, cheeks, and necks they have tested us with tribulation,
With their waists, breasts, and limbs we incline to their desires.

8. Their sides, backs, and edges
Take captive those before and behind them.

9. A Houri of Paradise, Rizwan its keeper,
But Malik entrusted with guarding against its access.

10. Blessed is he who dwells in a Garden,
If the Houri of Heavens were created for him.

11. White and black are its branches, its night and day
Are but its darkness and illumination.

12. A beloved I loved, the torture of her lover is sweet,
And the slaying of passion is the best witness of it.

13. My eye did not part from her except that longing
Reunited between her pillow and weeping.

14. I caress my limbs and I imagine them embers,
Kindled with the flames in the midst of her hillside.

15. I fear, if I gain nearness to her,
The pressing of my entrails to her entrails.

16. If I were to kiss her, I would melt her
With the kindling of breaths in her elevations.

17. I saw death depicted in life
In a scene of her separation and meeting.

18. I intended to turn to others, not out of love for them,
And ignored her, not out of hatred for her.

19. So I began to look upon her with all my limbs,
In some of my turning to others.

20. Thus I see my food in passion as disappointing,
In her nearness to me and her distancing.

21. So be patient, perhaps you will win,
For souls have triumphed after prolonged strife.

22. A world adorning for mankind its desires,
Degrading its men to its women.

23. The share of men from women is that
Their free masters are seen as slaves to their bondmaids.

24. What can be the beauty of a free soul,
One day when the beauty of its honor is robbed?

25. By Allah, the noble is not ennobled by lineage,
Save by the estimable qualities of his deeds.

26. So too the tribes of Nizar, their pride
Lies in the nobility and generosity of their deeds.

27. As for Rabee'ah, never shall the rope of its nobility fray,
Nor the knot of its loyalty unravel.

28. Rabee'ah the nimble steed who reconnoiters the encampments
And returns at its morn and eve.

29. If challenged in munificence, it is not deterred
From its might and generosity.
