1. The recollection of companionship agitated me,
And the melodious singers with charming voices,

2. My friend, serve me a drink now,
Perhaps it may cure the pain of separation.

3. This is the time for drinking and companionship,
And a tender gathering of basil plants.

4. Do you not see the anemones laughing,
In the prime of the garden?

5. Our time is the finest of times,
If not for the burning agony and sorrows,

6. For the love of one who holds my reins,
Whom I do not see and who does not see me.

7. I complain to the One of great power over my plight,
Relieve me and quench the pain of companionship.

8. None but He who has afflicted me with His love,
Knows my secrets or my proclamations.
