1. Her farewell seemed adorned, while shyness hid her.
The pain of parting departed for her tenderness’ sake.

2. A girl whose face the dawn seemed to unveil,
While for us her hair seemed to shroud the night.

3. If she were seen by a dualistic nation,
Their god would be what her cheek embraced.

4. Her beauty denied her any blame, for if
She did wrong, her beauty was her excuse.

5. The sweetness of life left me when she departed,
As stateliness left her with mourning.

6. And when we bid farewell secretly,
My eyes had a guardian who overwhelmed their vigilance.

7. The tears of her eyelids flowed over the fire of her cheek,
And so their moisture became burning embers in my heart.

8. After her my patience and composure waned,
So I wonder after us, how will her patience be?

9. Perplexed of heart I became due to parting,
Enduring grief that does not suit recalling her.

10. My soul was not impoverished, for it only
Took refuge in the poverty of the pious.

11. Every lover of Al Ahmad’s family is a star,
And your father’s family are the flowers in bloom.

12. When gatherings differ with the most generous,
You are in every gathering its core.

13. If you are the new crescent in the horizon of youth,
You are the full moon in perfect fate.

14. You have taken on manners which are wine in pleasure
And scent, but in youth their drunkenness.

15. It is no disgrace, a young man’s drunkenness in amusement,
Especially when grace and beauty are its wine.

16. The Prophet's trustee, best of all creation,
Had jokes whose spreading scattered joy.

17. Take initiatives with open hands, for they
Are glories time does not pardon its trace.

18. And hands are purified with one grateful, just as
Its seed doubles in fertile land.

19. Conversing with manners and grace in them
Are means no heat of argument makes shy.

20. So I composed unto you virgin meanings,
A bride, and of the finest brides her virginity.

21. If we say your life is long, you ascertain
In that greatness that your life is hers.
