1. The clan of Wahb have risen above the world
In the events of time and in what is to come

2. Beings who have manifested excellence and virtues never
Matched by all the swords of India in battle

3. Lost is he who hopes for the end of their glory
From the incapable and prudent among men

4. The ambition of the arrogant, not aiming well
Has led him astray or is it a dreamer’s dream

5. Wahb built for them its summit And it’s for
The builder that the upper hand over the destroyer

6. How many a generous Hatim among them in munificence
Distributing bounty over (the legendary) Hatim (himself)

7. One who turns away from helping me will not be aggrieved
By evil done by my oppressors

8. Thus my patron in that which I seek
Is Abu Husain the son of Abi al Qasim
