1. I sacrifice myself for you, time does not relent
From the trying events and continuous misfortunes,

2. And these days are but stages,
Some spacious and some narrow.

3. Difficulties have refined you and made you supple,
Pure gold is assayed before being cast.

4. You are not one to panic in the face of harm,
Nor flee from the arena in the face of confrontation.

5. Though wisdom has been straitened by your imprisonment,
And Islam made captive in the clutch of polytheism,

6. Is there not a model in Allah's Prophet Joseph
When one like you is imprisoned by injustice and savagery?

7. He endured handsomely in jail for a time,
And by his fine endurance this led in the end to the royal throne.
