1. A longing heart afflicted with sorrow and grief
And weeping eyes overflowing with tears

2. Suleima draws near yet our meeting does not
So to her, nearness and distance are the same

3. A shining white she is, who doesn't fulfill
The covenant she's made, nor the rope she's cut

4. It's the injustice of love that blood still flows
Mindlessly, with no sense or guidance

5. Will I find behind worries some comfort
A gift of freedom, relief that I can enjoy?

6. Or thank Abu Nuh for his blessings
When abundance exceeds what one can praise

7. You've made me one of men I used to follow
Seeking provision, if they would provide

8. So I found as their paths once provided them
I gain and thank for grace as they were thanked

9. Splitting my zeal between two bands of pursuit
One set out while the other lingers behind

10. I'm determined not to despair unto death
With Eesa ibn Ibrahim as my pillar of strength

11. He creates glory in a people lacking it
His nature is to renew glories anew

12. His hands never stop supporting white hands
While their hands refrain from the likes of his

13. Blessed - what he says is right, flows smooth
Guided, and upheld by wisdom and support

14. He supports the rule with his diligent advice
Rushing for God, strengthened in piety

15. Tackling small matters without being too soft
Or too harsh for execution to bear fruit

16. He doesn't delay today's tasks for tomorrow
For tomorrow is the day of the weakest ones

17. Envied for virtues in him that are superior
Though blessings and envy can't be separated

18. God protects you, even when you slip
From calamities, until the end of time

19. When we lack livelihood, and life grows thin
Yours remains smooth, shaded, opulent

20. If only we could endure, be patient
Till we could truly complain as you do

21. The attacking lion was unjust one eve
As the winds blew, and night's wings gathered

22. Had he met you at dawn while you prayed
He'd see a howling one whom even lions evade

23. Kept from you by sincere resolve and long reach
With a sharp sword, thrusting as flames ignite
