1. Why does not my humiliation soften you,
And my submission fulfill your promise?

2. I ask you for little, fearing your disfavor.
As for your forgiveness after abandonment,

3. And your nearness after your distance,
My soul does not blame itself for loving you

4. Nor deviate due to your long estrangement.
If I have done wrong, as you do wrong,

5. I have never ceased to desire your affection.
Tell the Caliph Ja'far -

6. Men weary in your pursuit.
What man equals your sublime heights

7. Or matches your glory, ancestry, descendants or allies?
You extend the prophecy and the caliphate

8. By the auspiciousness of your Abbasid ancestor.
And you connected your pardon to us, O Commander of the Faithful,

9. Through your effort.
You shepherded us and showed us

10. The ways of right guidance through your excellent judgment.
The world was made good for us by praise of Allah, your Lord, and then your praise.

11. Upon you are the markings of prophecy that testify to your rectitude
When you wrap yourself in its mantle above your own mantle.

12. You strengthened the nation of Ahmad
With the excellent governors of your dynasty.

13. So they altogether praise and thank
The beauty of your help.

14. Clinging to the pledge of allegiance
You made firm with the bond of your covenant.

15. So make peace with them and with the poles
That you wove into the fabric of your oneness.
