١. فُتورُ الجُفونِ وَإِمراضُها
نُبُوُّ الجُنوبِ وَإِقضاضُها
2. And how much vigil for love has stirred him
The aloofness of the gazelles and their aversion
٢. وَكَم سَهَرٍ في الهَوى هاجَهُ
صُدودُ الغَواني وَإِعراضُها
3. And a white one whose separation brings despair
And whose glance kindles hope for reunion
٣. وَبيضاءَ يُؤيسُ هِجرانُها
وَيُطمَعُ في الوَصلِ إيماضُها
4. She appeared and I affirmed from her glance
The heartsick, aroused from their torpor
٤. تَراءَت فَأُثبِتَ عَن لَحظِها
عَليلُ الجَوانِحِ مُنهاضُها
5. Will Isaac ransom you from the noble Majid
Whose nature matches and whose pride averts
٥. أَإِسحاقُ تَفديكَ مِن ماجِدٍ
مُناسِبُ طَيٍّ وَأَعراضُها
6. You were honored by a gift she extended
To you, the palm of a hand white like a flag
٦. وَهُنّيتَ تَكرُمَةً ساقَها
إِلَيكَ نَدي الكَفِّ فَيّاضُها
7. Her pants of bright azure colors
Of delicate, billowing fabric
٧. سَرابيلُ أَزهَرَ أَصفاكَها
رَقيقُ السَرابيلِ فَضفاضُها
8. They hint at an intimacy with one
Who finds the yearnings of lovers a burden
٨. تَدُلُّ عَلى زُلفَةٍ عِندَهُ
يُعاضُ الرَغائِبَ مُعتاضُها
9. So you continued to aim for the most blissful
While your arrows flew wide of their marks
٩. فَلا زِلتَ تَرمي إِلى أَنعُمٍ
تُبِذُّ سِهامَكَ أَغراضُها
