1. Though I strive for ease, perhaps
The striving one is deprived of his wish.

2. And though time’s turning is against me,
I am armored with patience for time’s malice.

3. I face misfortunes with composure,
And hold my people’s honor as my own.

4. A people whose spears on the day of battle
Are devoted to the places of concealment.

5. They don armor and coats of mail,
With death between mail coat and spear point.

6. A people who when they witness horrors,
Make the spear points skulls of the enemies.

7. A people whose fear in the wilderness
Dwells in the souls within their bodies.
