1. The early rain cloud still celebrates
Rushing upon the homes of those in tents

2. So how many dwellings there are now deserted
And settlements of wasteland and crumbling walls

3. The years have confused their inhabitants and uncovered
From its people the freshness of time

4. And tender loves may still linger there
Whose images stir the hearts to passion and fervor

5. How I wished, O citadel, that I had visited
When insomnia disturbs the thoughts of one who dreams

6. An apparition pained us while we were
In the desolate desert, grieving the heart

7. It led to disheveled hair blown about
By the gusts of encampment like scattered ashes

8. Until they uncovered themselves from darkness and dressed
In the surplus of the radiant dawn’s first light

9. And set out with eyes that penetrate
The languor of drowsiness’ weakened gaze

10. I fell in love and was answered subtly
As the sun gleamed on the bird’s wing

11. We traveled while you remained, and sometimes
The one who stays is the companion of the one who goes

12. Either we were drawn to you, and how many tears
Are turned to you with a glance from the watcher

13. The travel of Prince Muhammad has revealed to us
A purposeful matter of renewal and command

14. He neither tracks the stranger, nor is seen
Disturbed, restless upon the winding road

15. Honoring the nobility of Hussein and Musab,
And the actions of Abdullah and thereafter Tahir

16. A people who humiliated abundance until they became
The most deserving of people of every honor

17. Lions of an epic, and if tumult subsides
They are like the full moons and the Pleiades

18. They came following the forerunners when there was no
Other runner, and so came after the tenth

19. O sons of Hussein, your character has not ceased
To be of a gentle, radiant garden

20. Great deeds were begun with the first of you
And concluded thereafter with the last

21. You pursue Talha in action, even while you travel
Along the bright moon of the sky

22. Sands for you are the equipment of the proud
On the day of battle and multitude of the superior

23. And gifts among you are like
Blossoms opening through the early spring

24. Whether you are thanked or unthanked
The star is as the beholder's eye has seen it

25. Or my poetry has walked in your determination and generosity
Those are my merits and achievements

26. And praise that goes beyond bounds
Cannot be proper unless the glory is the poet’s glory
