1. The days of singing in the desert of Arbad,
Surely stirred up passion in one accustomed to tenderness,

ูก. ู„ูŽุนูŽู…ุฑู ุงู„ู…ูŽุบุงู†ูŠ ูŠูŽูˆู…ูŽ ุตูŽุญุฑุงุกู ุฃูŽุฑุจูŽุฏู
ู„ูŽู‚ูŽุฏ ู‡ูŽูŠู‘ูŽุฌูŽุช ูˆูŽุฌุฏุง ุนูŽู„ู‰ ุฐูŠ ุชูŽูˆูŽุฌู‘ูุฏู

2. The abodes have become abodes for the winds,
That wander between appearing and hiding.

ูข. ู…ูŽู†ุงุฒูู„ู ุฃูŽุถุญูŽุช ู„ูู„ุฑููŠุงุญู ู…ูŽู†ุงุฒูู„ุงู‹
ุชูŽุฑูŽุฏู‘ูŽุฏู ููŠู‡ุง ุจูŽูŠู†ูŽ ู†ูุคูŠู ูˆูŽุฑูู…ุฏูุฏู

3. Its ruins made my companion lament, so his tears poured,
And I did not say, โ€œBe happier!โ€

ูฃ. ุดูŽุฌูŽุช ุตุงุญูุจูŠ ุฃูŽุทู„ุงู„ูู‡ุง ููŽุชูŽู‡ูŽู„ู‘ูŽุช
ู…ูŽุฏุงู…ูุนูู‡ู ููŠู‡ุง ูˆูŽู…ุง ู‚ูู„ุชู ุฃูŽุณุนูุฏู

4. And for the abode of Malikiyya, sorrow diminished,
From yearning that could not be controlled with weakened resistance.

ูค. ูˆูŽู‚ูŽู„ู‘ูŽุช ู„ูุฏุงุฑู ุงู„ู…ุงู„ููƒููŠู‘ูŽุฉู ุนูŽุจุฑูŽุฉูŒ
ู…ูู†ูŽ ุงู„ุดูŽูˆู‚ู ู„ูŽู… ุชูู…ู„ูŽูƒ ุจูุตูŽุจุฑู ููŽุชูุฑุฏูŽุฏู

5. The valleys watered it where its abodes had lodged,
Though they did not water one with great power.

ูฅ. ุณูŽู‚ูŽุชู‡ุง ุงู„ุบูŽูˆุงุฏูŠ ุญูŽูŠุซู ุญูŽู„ู‘ูŽุช ุฏููŠุงุฑูู‡ุง
ุนูŽู„ู‰ ุฃูŽู†ู‘ูŽู‡ุง ู„ูŽู… ุชูŽุณู‚ู ุฐุง ุงู„ุบูู„ู‘ูŽุฉู ุงู„ุตูŽุฏูŠ

6. It saw the gray hair of old age and smiled at it,
And said, โ€œThe stars, if they rose, would be more fortunate.โ€

ูฆ. ุฑูŽุฃูŽุช ููŽู„ูŽุชุงุชู ุงู„ุดูŽูŠุจู ููŽุงูุจุชูŽุณูŽู…ูŽุช ู„ูŽู‡ุง
ูˆูŽู‚ุงู„ูŽุช ู†ูุฌูˆู…ูŒ ู„ูŽูˆ ุทูŽู„ูŽุนู†ูŽ ุจูุฃูŽุณุนูุฏู

7. You were not favorable to me when I was young,
So old age drew nearer when it was distanced.

ูง. ุฃูŽุนุงุชููƒูŽ ู…ุง ูƒุงู†ูŽ ุงู„ุดูŽุจุงุจู ู…ูู‚ูŽุฑู‘ูุจูŠ
ุฅูู„ูŽูŠูƒู ููŽุฃูŽู„ุญู‰ ุงู„ุดูŽูŠุจูŽ ุฅูุฐ ูƒุงู†ูŽ ู…ูุจุนูŽุฏูŠ

8. You increase estrangement whenever my agony increases,
Yearning to return, yet here I am, driven away.

ุทูู„ุงุจุงู‹ ู„ูุฃูŽู† ุฃูŽุฑุฏู‰ ููŽู‡ุง ุฃูŽู†ูŽุฐุง ุฑูŽุฏู

9. When will I regain the life that recently passed?
If my day with you is better than tomorrow.

ูฉ. ู…ูŽุชู‰ ุฃูŽู„ุญูŽู‚ู ุงู„ุนูŽูŠุดูŽ ุงู„ู‘ูŽุฐูŠ ูุงุชูŽ ุขู†ููุงู‹
ุฅูุฐุง ูƒุงู†ูŽ ูŠูŽูˆู…ูŠ ููŠูƒู ุฃูŽุญุณูŽู†ูŽ ู…ูู† ุบูŽุฏูŠ

10. By the life of the days, they did not rule over me,
Nor did I give them a bridled path.

11. How can I fear misfortunes and their turning
Upon me while Ahmad ibn Muhammad is with me?

12. Blamed for spending his fortune, yet glorious,
There is no glory but for the blamed, the impoverished.

13. Whitest are his gifts for the briefest asker,
Most generous are his gifts for the first beggar.

ุฑูุดุงุกู‹ ูˆูŽุฌูŽุฏูˆุงู‡ู ู„ูุฃูŽูˆู‘ูŽู„ู ู…ูุฌุชูŽุฏู

14. If they accost him with a question, he turns away from them,
Until he is unjust and transgresses.

ูกูค. ุฅูุฐุง ุงูุจุชูŽุฏูŽุฑูˆู‡ู ุจูุงู„ุณูุคุงู„ู ุงูู†ุชูŽุญู‰ ู„ูŽู‡ูู…
ุนูŽู„ู‰ ูˆูŽูุฑูู‡ู ุญูŽุชู‘ู‰ ูŠูŽุฌูˆุฑูŽ ููŽูŠูŽุนุชูŽุฏูŠ

15. Far from the youths ever catching up with him
If he travels a path upward to glory.

ูกูฅ. ุจูŽุนูŠุฏูŒ ุนูŽู†ู ุงู„ููุชูŠุงู†ู ุฃูŽู† ูŠูŽู„ุญูŽู‚ูˆุง ุจูู‡ู
ุฅูุฐุง ุณุงุฑูŽ ููŠ ู†ูŽู‡ุฌู ุฅูู„ู‰ ุงู„ู…ูŽุฌุฏู ู…ูุตุนูุฏู

16. And among the people there are noble chiefs, their number
Though plentiful, there is one chief above a chief.

ูกูฆ. ูˆูŽููŠ ุงู„ู†ุงุณู ุณุงุฏุงุชูŒ ูŠูŽุฑูˆุญู ุนูŽุฏูŠุฏูู‡ูู…
ูƒูŽุซูŠุฑุงู‹ ูˆูŽู„ูŽูƒูู† ุณูŽูŠู‘ูุฏูŒ ุฏูˆู†ูŽ ุณูŽูŠู‘ูุฏู

17. Becoming one in his determination and undertaking,
Bearing sincere advice for the caliphate, matchlessly.

ูกูง. ุบูŽุฏุง ูˆุงุญูุฏุงู‹ ููŠ ุญูŽุฒู…ูู‡ู ูˆูŽุงูุถุทูู„ุงุนูู‡ู
ูŠูŽู†ูˆุกู ุจูู†ูุตุญู ู„ูู„ุฎูู„ุงููŽุฉู ุฃูŽูˆุญูŽุฏู

18. Close to it for protecting all that is neglected,
Quick for it in gathering all that is scattered.

ูกูจ. ู‚ูŽุฑูŠุจูŒ ู„ูŽู‡ุง ู…ูู† ุญููุธู ูƒูู„ู‘ู ู…ูุถูŽูŠู‘ูŽุนู
ุณูŽุฑูŠุนูŒ ู„ูŽู‡ุง ููŠ ุฌูŽู…ุนู ูƒูู„ู‘ู ู…ูุจูŽุฏู‘ูŽุฏู

19. Too narrow for the trivial thing that betrays him,
Even if he has a spacious chest and hand in the evening.

ูกูฉ. ูŠูŽุถูŠู‚ู ุนูŽู†ู ุงู„ุดูŽูŠุกู ุงู„ุทูŽููŠูู ูŠูุฎุงู†ูู‡ู
ูˆูŽุฅูู† ู‡ููˆูŽ ุฃูŽู…ุณู‰ ูˆุงุณูุนูŽ ุงู„ุตูŽุฏุฑู ูˆูŽุงู„ูŠูŽุฏู

20. Abu Hasan, our souls that your favors ransom,
From the turning away of afflictions, ransom you.

ูขู . ุฃูŽุจุง ุญูŽุณูŽู†ู ุชูŽูุฏูŠูƒูŽ ุฃูŽู†ููุณูู†ุง ุงู„ู‘ูŽุชูŠ
ุจูู†ูุนู…ุงูƒูŽ ู…ูู† ุตูŽุฑูู ุงู„ู†ูŽูˆุงุฆูุจู ุชูŽูุชูŽุฏูŠ

21. And our hopes in you have not reached an endpoint,
That we would see as satisfaction in your continuous fate.

ูขูก. ูˆูŽู…ุง ุจูŽู„ูŽุบูŽุช ุขู…ุงู„ูู†ุง ุจููƒูŽ ุบุงูŠูŽุฉู‹
ู†ูŽุฑุงู‡ุง ุฑูุถู‰ู‹ ููŠ ู‚ูŽุฏุฑููƒูŽ ุงู„ู…ูุชูŽุฌูŽุฏู‘ูุฏู

22. So how when that opinion is not propped up by
An advisor, and that sword has not been girded?

ูขูข. ููŽูƒูŽูŠููŽ ูˆูŽุฐุงูƒูŽ ุงู„ุฑูŽุฃูŠู ู„ูŽู… ูŠูŽุณุชูŽู†ูุฏ ุจูู‡ู
ู…ูุดูŠุฑูŒ ูˆูŽุฐุงูƒูŽ ุงู„ุณูŽูŠูู ู„ูŽู… ูŠูุชูŽู‚ูŽู„ู‘ูŽุฏู
