2. You prepared the beauty and freshness of this world for us

Some are arriving while others await,

5. May God guide you to righteousness, and you still
Follow the truth, tracing its path,

6. My waiting for what you began has reached
Its utmost excess - the excused makes his excuse,

7. The possessor of something holds it back
Choosing between altruism and self-interest,

8. And my land has become dependent
Like flowers depend on the beholder,

9. I aim with poetry so it may return, but I don’t
Lose hope in what I aim for,

10. A decree from God which I accept, and my soul does not
Doubt that it is for the best,

11. Regaining it is through effort and perseverance
And I have persevered in effort for ten months,

12. If God decrees that it remains lost, then
It has been lost by its people since the beginning.
