1. I offer myself for your sake, for I have pleasant news,
And you are well-versed in every honorable deed.
١. جُعِلتَ فِداكَ لي خَبَرٌ طَريفٌ
وَأَنتَ بِكُلِّ مَكرُمَةٍ خَبيرُ
2. On the morning of the Feast, each tribe slaughters,
Yet I have no sheep nor camel to offer.
٢. غَداةَ النَحرِ يَنحَرُ كُلُّ قَومٍ
وَلا شاةٌ لَدَيَّ وَلا بَعيرُ
3. Rather I have a donkey - so tell me,
Will the sanctified accept my humble gift?
٣. بَلى عِندي حِمارٌ لي فَقُل لي
أَتَقبَلُ مِن مُضَحّيها الحَميرُ
4. If you are not ransomed, I shall ransom you with my soul,
Slaughtered as an offering - so shall my donkey be slain.
٤. لَئِن لَم تَفدِهِ تَفديكَ نَفسي
بِذَبحٍ فَهوَ في غَدِهِ نَحيرُ
