A steed whose sire was nobly bred.

4. Thou sowedst benefits among us, else,
But for thy perfection, they were not renewed.

5. Thou art the Caliph's vicegerent; thee
The princes of lofty race obey, unbidden.

6. And one of them—his father sprang
From thy fire's ashes when the flame was quenched.
