١. ما أَنجَحَت غَطَفانُ في أُكرومَةٍ
إِنجاحَها بِالصَيدِ آلِ نَجاحِ
2. They inherited writing, horsemanship and argument
From every bright ancestor among them, every Waddah!
٢. وَرِثوا الكِتابَةَ وَالفُروسَةَ وَالحِجى
عَن كُلِّ أَبيَضَ مِنهُمُ وَضّاحِ
3. With the breasts of pens which transmit to them
The affairs of the Caliphate or the breasts of spears!
٣. بِصُدورِ أَقلامٍ تَرُدُّ إِلَيهِمُ
أَمرَ الخِلافَةِ أَو صُدورِ رِماحِ
