1. My soul implores you and both my parents,
And all those who were born under misfortune,

2. The burden of taxes weighs heavy on me, it is a painful debt,
And you have the remedy for my complaints,

3. You are the doctor for the wounds of my affliction,
With your medicine, no doubt, I will overcome my illness,

4. Your promise to me is longstanding,
So do me a favor by lightening my burdens,

5. Indeed what remains of my taxes, its measure,
If it were with you, would be but a day’s meal,

6. So do me a favor with the fast of a single day,
And make your meal for me, for in it is my contentment.
