1. What passed from the fantasy of Al-Malikiya has passed,
So the one with the loving heart became sleepless and stayed up at night.

2. It came close in a dream, though only to intend to depart,
And only reached in slumber to sever.

3. It withheld, and its withholding is of its nature,
And had it reached, it would have had more power to connect.

4. Reaching it is difficult, yet reaching is possible,
And the eggs of the white ants, it is rare they become inaccessible.

5. So if this heart had willed at the start of youth,
It would have fallen short of some of the youth, or would have fallen short.

6. But, alas! I did not find a shelter from passion,
Nor did I find a spring of love from which to draw water.

7. It was a tender love between us, advancing,
As rain of spring, early showering.

8. She glanced, and a glance drew her to the side,
And the ardent lover only turns to look.

9. At redness from lightning whenever
The high clouds acting arrogantly grow dusty.

10. It lights a cloud above a shining plain
And makes out a meadow below a green plain.

11. It would have been beloved to me had it
Lit a gazelle near the green plain.

12. God has granted the one made mighty through God a blessing,
Too majestic to be limited or measured.

13. Through it God has delivered people from a tremendous
Event which beset Islam, going around it for months.

14. And from turbulent strife whose darkness
Covered the horizon until it returned intensely gloomy.

15. It gave victory with the swords of loyalists and their
Patience upon death when they struggled with death redly.

16. More youthful than the angels, whenever you looked upon him,
You looked upon Abu Ishaq and Al-Qaram Jafar.

17. His arrow advanced regarding the caliphate
When others were turned back from it, so lagged behind.

18. And it becomes known to him in the morning, the merit is his, not theirs,
Though the far removed disavow it, denying.

19. He erected the beacon of truth until one was guided by it,
And saw it who before was never seeing clearly.

20. And the ways of grace returned to the world through his merit,
So everything that had gone away came forward.

21. With a forbearance as if the earth revered him
And a generosity as if the sea gushed from him.

22. You have lived, Commander of the Faithful, well-protected,
So the life of dew and generosity is in being lived long.

23. Glory and praise and loftiness cannot be encompassed,
Not until they are encompassed and supported fully.

24. You were generous, so a drop of rain became,
From your munificence, nearer and narrower than it is.

25. And when you assumed leadership, doing good,
You prevented the far reaches of your rule from being disturbed.

26. You took up the burdens of the caliphate, sufficient,
And you remain hopeful regarding it, waiting.

27. So it did not weary you when you strove tirelessly,
Nor did you slacken from it when you shot arrows.

28. And you remain, if at peace, successful,
Upright, and if at war, victorious.

29. So if the aspirations of the imams preceded you,
You have surpassed kings, leading and planning.

30. Thus it is no wonder they are enraged and rise up,
Nor strange they diminish while you increase.

31. Al-'Abbas and his son have left with you
Heights the stars' trajectory wandered bewildered.

32. They both bequeathed to you the sword of cleavage,
And handed over the rod and the striped cloak.

33. So which glory are you not right for through its merit,
And most fitting for it of any living soul?

34. You are the son of one who quenched the thirst of pilgrims during drought
And called upon the clouds in the sky, so it showered.
