Era is passing over dignity in darkness?

6. An era in which we are tried with disgrace
When we stand up ripe and vengeful.

7. Savagery which time has uncovered its veil
No, but darker and more savage than beasts.

8. The beast pounces hungry and abstains
From its killings when it is satiated and fed!

9. O you comrades of animals, do not
Forget the human who moans and hurts.

10. In Egypt, even dogs are cared for
While its people are despised and crushed!

11. In Egypt, the evildoer is not punished
No, but rewarded over his peers and honored.

12. In Egypt is what history does not preserve
Of disgrace overflowing and disgrace concealed.

13. In Egypt! If Egypt had some dignity
It would be angry and blood would flow on its sides!

14. What humiliation can we protect?
Nothing of our sanctities is left to honor.

15. Death? Oh death! A more honorable law
Than what we are labeled with and tattooed!
