1. This stifling, wearying, cruel siege
How long will it pound me like an axe?!

2. This siege that slaves still strike against me
With delusions and prop picks all around

3. Had it been around mute mountains, the rocks
Would have cracked from it, and toppled what stood tall

4. Had it been around the beasts of the forest, they would have
Trembled and slipped, after such composure, so smoothly

5. This is a wicked, vicious siege
Wanting to finish me, or suffocate my breath

6. I see it for certain, wherever my thoughts have traveled
Across horizons and breeds

7. It's as if I’m lost in a forest, craved
By beasts, beasts without any feeling

8. Nothing shreds their cunning around me
Except my patience and determination

9. So they return disappointed, with no gain
Of what they wanted from me, besides destitution

10. Betrayal and poverty and banishment I know
And I do not forget shackles and chains among people

11. My family, tomorrow, my children, they have
A Lord who consoles, whether He relents or aids the desperate

12. I laugh at my death and watch for it
Without dread, and live like a torch

13. I became ascetic with earthly life, this asceticism frightened them
And disgusted them amid temptation and lurking

14. He released all the strings from their fingers
So the people strike out blindly with clubs

15. I do not boast of my steadfastness, I am a man
Whose nearness to God has made me needless of people
