1. Your love is the pillar of my faith and doctrine
You are the wish of my heart, my request and pursuit

2. You disturbed the calmness of my waterhole with distance
I craved an apparition or a mirage to console me

3. A dear one who sees my humility before him, and is cheered
Sickly, he denied seeing me with his blindness and unfairness, and the length of his boredom

8. Passion dwelling in my brain was enough for me
It crept into my heart and confused my mind

9. So my will failed me and does not support me
How vast this sea of longing in which I swim

10. I hover in it floating like a duck
A friend of your love, how can he heal his sickness?

11. A patient from your abandonment, how can he cure his illness?
When I saw patience block its path

12. My tears overflowed, then its passage flooded
Like Noah's flood whose coast cannot be contained

13. I gave him my soul and followed with my body
The strength of my patience in separation has weakened

14. And my wounded heart - separation has damaged it
My doctor eulogized me for loving someone

15. Who tyrannizes me with long estrangement, unequalled among mankind
His love remains in my heart

16. We renew the ecstasy though it is old
The sweetness of my heart is found in none but him

17. The vanguard of my rapture was never defeated
For love has comrades, unmatched by any group

18. He persisted in estrangement, breaking custom
The nights of union are no longer scheduled

19. Since he left me, my sorrow increases
Long nights pass that were once joyful

20. They are in my heart whether close or distant
Indeed, separation gloats over us, destroyer of glory

21. My concord is shattered by parting into pieces
If I do not find a victor over separation

22. The long nights I spend prostrate in them
Against them, though our pact was unfulfilled when we were close

23. The quarter I loved went away; home feels lonesome
Of family, loved ones, neighbor, and dwellings

24. I call out, though my heart despairs from the sadness
My nature refused to relent from loving whom

25. They made me drink from the cup of estrangement, unmixed
They shot me with the arrow of estrangement, so I yearned

26. More for them, yet they did not heed ties or company
O you who made me drink the draught of separation

27. I have wearied of the path of passion for you
With a single pearl necklace unparalleled in its perfection

28. A prophet guided us to what is right and its ways
A beloved of The Merciful, the last of His messengers

29. He created the universe for none but him
I trembled at what I was inspired of his virtue

30. And misery departed us; wrath is relieved
Foremost though the prophets preceded him

31. You will see them tomorrow at the Gathering hoping for his grace
None like him was created

32. The idolaters' sects submitted to him
And their necks bowed, so he finished them off

33. He pardons the sinner, bestowing kindness
His traits inform you of the superiority of his knowledge

34. Able over enemies, resolute in his will
Their horoscopes are subjugated under his rule

35. They have no power or step forward
The Master favored us with the noblest messenger

36. A prophet who brought us the revelation sent down
I poured in praising him the sweetest spring

37. My tongue is eloquent in praise - how can it not be
When no diction or prose can encompass him

38. Through him the residents of cities and villages were secured
The Criterion has narrated all that transpired

39. A true narrative of what was fabricated
Profound meanings, glorious lineage and wealth

40. With open-handedness his traits are generosity
Journeyers head to him from every destination

41. Without him we would not know prostration to a direction
Through him we live in comfort and delight

42. The rising of nights left no shred of doubt
His words are justice and his scale equity

43. For him the angels gathered and stared
They stretched their visions to him then gazed

44. They saw his honor and so stared
The layers of the heavens - he climbed and shone

45. Everymost is lowly compared to his sublimity
Through him we were led from misguidance to guidance

46. We won honor and prevailed over enemies
Together we are safe from waywardness

47. An ornament over all existence, he became
Like a bride adorned with crown and earrings

48. He called us and we readily responded
We attained through him prominence, pride and impenetrability

49. In our religion we never feared deviance or heresy
We rose through him to honor, worth and esteem

50. And gained through him strong, inaccessible glory
