1. One's path is God's - Sinai of the Prophet,
The Hashimite's and the idols' demise.

2. Its tablets descended in lines of blood
When the two parties contended by it.

3. The party of guidance walks with Ahmad's banner,
While polytheism whips it, led by Abu Sufyan.

4. So the clamor of the polytheists roared as if
In those chests lay hell's hottest blaze.

5. The lances are shooting stars that hide the skulls
Which nostalgia propels toward rewards.

6. The howling women chew the thick of fray
And flame, by the palm trees, like snakes.

7. They walk on while the glowing terrain dances
The mirage's dance upon the sand mat.

8. A rumble is the thunderous herd, and their crawl
Is like the waves above the dunes' mere ghosts.

9. Their hatreds have wrinkled their brows,
So their foreheads and armors are equal.

10. The fire of resentments has sparked from the hearths
Of their inflamed eyes, lit up with flames.

11. It's as if, in each eye, an ember -
Darkly patient over fires - lay.

12. Such are Quraysh, who knit their pacts
And - disgraced - sought help from Abyssinians.

13. From each tattooed, meagerly clad one
With a robe's breadth, twisting his turban,

14. With trimmed, frizzy beards let loose -
Dyed mustaches with henna,

15. And braided pigtails coiled up
Like snakes around every neck,

16. Traveling to battle in caravans -
Every bare-assed one wearing his shoes,

17. Scampering like frightened hedgehogs,
And if counted, throngs like wolves,

18. While their women, between the lines, evils -
With their tambourines and young girls' singing,

19. They led the men astray, so they plunged in misguidance,
And Alas for men led by women!

20. They threatened them with separation if they fallback,
So they attacked though inconsistent.

21. Bedouins - if ignorance puffed up
Its udders - they'd race their betting horses.

22. They'd compete to death's troughs like
Birds fleeing together to betrayal.

23. They attacked the Messenger but he didn't soften
His wing for the many, and stood like an anvil,

24. His faith coherent, his conscience sound,
From his Lord, the Merciful.

25. Walk on, O Muhammad - don't fear their darkness,
It will recede before the Omnipotent's might.

26. And ahead of you the harbor smiles
Its greeting, so strike with its ringing stones

27. The thickets. And "the wind" - He who
Furls existence by His Absolute command - sends before you.
