1. I'm astonished by this world
And I won't hide my astonishment from you

2. How many doctrines in it
And how many paths in it

3. Some contradict others
Perplexing us without cause

4. Each claims a heavenly promise
And a good prophet

5. And hopes for Paradise
After death expected

6. And the pious one by his doctrine
Is a fool by others' judgment!

7. Why, Oh Creator
Did you make the universe in commotion?

8. So where is the truth, my Lord
And in whom should I seek guidance, my Lord?
