1. Man thinks he is safe
Yet death is certain and passing away is sure

2. Do not feel secure in this world for its deception
Has fooled the ancients and time is treacherous

3. Not a moment has passed of your time
Without your life being hostage to demise

4. And if you are immersed in bounty and pleasure
Do not forget the events yet to come

5. And if you cry over the loss of loved ones
Then cry for yourself, o wretched one

6. The day you will part from friends
Is inevitable, when you were eminent amongst them, yet became despised

7. Some people are apathetic to your woes
While others are saddened by your state

8. You see, because of the horror you fell into
Tears flow from eyelids and eyes

9. As if it were the day of Karbala
The day the Prophet's grandson was sorrowful

10. The day the seven heavens shook from its enormity
And calmed after the convulsion into stillness

11. The morning sun dressed in dark attire
Garments of grief overtook the faith

12. The day time betrayed viciously
With no helper present in that place

13. Enemies gathered against him
Their wings filled with hatred

14. The foe hoped he would surrender submissively
Yet he refused and stood with his sharpened sword

15. He stood amidst, separating their crowd
With his attacks, heads detached from bodies

16. Thirsty, denied even a sip of water
While wild beasts had springs to drink from

Lions of the jungle surrounded him

18. As did the stallions and naked swords
They weakened in great number, while the foe multiplied

19. Bodies appeared yet hearts were impregnable fortresses
They readily sacrificed their lives during tribulation

20. And ransomed those valuable souls
They protected the households with swords and spears

21. Abodes of Ahmad and the faith
I cannot forget when the enemies dishonored

22. The veiled ladies and their protector was killed
Alas, they were dragged by the transgressors

23. With their chastity guarded underneath their attire
She laments with bereavement yet ardently protects

24. While her body lies captive in the burial ground
Who will cry for the bewildered women

25. Not knowing where they will end up
What can one say when we are made captives

26. When gloaters and foes accompany us
The greatest of things to befall after their capture

27. For which even mountains would seem trivial
The successor is being insulted openly on pulpits

28. While the lecturers have him in their sights
The son of Hussein is shackled

29. While Yazeed continues drunk on power
