١. فارتَموا يَدَّعون أَمراً عَظيماً
لَم يَكُن للخليلِ لا وَالكَليمِ
2. While one of them was in abstraction
He saw the tablet, what was on it of inscription
٢. بَينَما المَرءُ مِنهُم في اِستفالٍ
أَبصر اللَوح ما بِهِ مِن رقومِ
3. So he drew knowledge from it, fresh, copious
And knew what would happen before the attack
٣. فَجنى العلم مِنهُ غَضاً طَريا
وَدَرى ما يَكون قَبل الهُجومِ
4. Indeed my mind is in shackles when
I substantiate with a monstrous slander
٤. إِنَّ عَقلي لَفي عقالٍ إِذا ما
أَنا صدقت بافتراءٍ عَظيمِ
