1. What harm that the beauty I loved has gone away
My two noble companions have hidden themselves
١. ما ضَرَّ حُسنُ الَّذي أَهواه أَنَّ سَنى
كَريمتيه بِلا شَينٍ قَد اِحتَجبا
2. They were two blossoms of a garden, now they are gone
But their enchanting beauty remains undiminished
٢. قَد كانَتا زَهرَتَي رَوض وَقَد ذَوتا
لَكنَّ حُسنَهما الفَتّان ما ذَهبا
3. Like a sword whose polish is gone yet it cuts deeper
And strikes with more pain the heart it once gladdened
٣. كَالسَيفِ قَد زالَ عَنهُ صَقله فَغَدا
أَنكى وَآلمَ في قَلبِ الَّذي ضَربا
