1. You unleashed meanings' knot so speech ascended,
And adorned it with eloquence and understanding.

2. O you who brought forth a sea of rhetoric unparalleled,
Neither Arabs nor non-Arabs reached its springs.

3. Your composition attained the unattainable,
As though it's of pure pearls precisely strung.

4. A lustrous diction and uncompromising meaning,
To which rightness doesn't object or sickness succumb.

5. As though eyes of bright lamps that the smile
Of the morn sun spun, so they beam and grin.

6. Or words a lover lavished on the beloved
Who longed for union after estrangement and loss.

7. Imbuing subtle wit unmatched by any,
And bearing praise that graces all generosity.

8. Describing the virgins of our auspicious light
To which plains and hills didn't fully submit.

9. And telling of a heart not turning away
From loyalty and love safe from all blame.

10. You embedded in its words from your conceits
What nations cannot properly embed.

11. Your words reveal their meaning effortlessly,
Does pure wine in cups ever conceal itself?

12. No doubt what meaning you hid
In your poem's first lines by the pen

13. And the second thing you concealed is a goblet
Like the dawn's whiteness, perfectly arrayed.

14. And the third that you obscured is a specter
Effaced by its crown the darkness and gloom.

15. You found the right way and seasoned with salt,
While concealing O eminent sage of great wisdom.

16. But I pose you riddles that have no ear,
No mane that shows, no foot or leg.

17. Use your mind on a mother who has a boy
Yet has no breast or womb.

18. Dead, made lawful to eat without slaughter,
In her no blood of life ever flowed.

19. She gives birth to a living boy though
No eye was slit for her to see or mouth speak.

20. Not articulated yet it sings beautifully,
When it makes music, minds and souls hark.

21. Deaf yet laughs when tickled,
People's minds and resolves turn to hear it.

22. Yes, and a bird that flies with four
Yet when it walks six drawings carry its marks.

23. Never brooded nor cradled by a mother,
Yet to birds a much coveted prize.

24. A foolish endless scrollcutting through all lands
With an edge no force can break.

25. Trailing endless with no intent to stop
Or shred in pieces however it's pulled taut.

26. Running without legs moving when resolved,
No wings yet flows smooth when determined.

27. All people's beloved, feared when crowded
If weakened, devoid of power and might.

28. Honest and silent though lacking speech or sense,
Upright, trusted, manifest, wise referee.

29. Judges without hearing or sight,
People accept its rulings as fair when disputing.

30. Take them, for you set out concealments for us
And illuminated what of them burns bright.

31. Be patient explaining their meanings though plentiful
As your gushing stream brought them to light.

32. Parchment and pen moan under their weight.
As though brides of plaited hair on script lines,

33. Bashfully peeking, cheeks all aflush.
