1. The blood of lovers is shed,
And the debt of passion is unpaid,

2. And the sword of glance is unsheathed,
And the love confessor is berated.

3. If love is not apparent,
And passion does not erupt,

4. And the heart its secret does not divulge,
Then all his claims are but lies.

5. So speak out, you who are silent,
Of the enchanting glance,

6. That transcends all description,
Of smooth charm and flair,

7. His glances have slain me,
So who dares assail the unjust?

8. His lids obeyed his sorcery,
And the moon submitted to his face,

9. And his slender waist responded,
His mouth resembled a pearl.

10. So the heart of his lover wanders,
He rebukes me for my love,

11. And abandons me without fault,
As if I am not struck by passion,

12. For the nectar of his saliva.
But is there any pity in love?

13. A gazelle is his glancing,
And the full moon is his raiment,

14. If I could possess him,
I would ravage all his essence contained,

15. The ravaging of the triumphant victor.
Take my blood witness,

16. And the beauty of his blushing cheek,
And the night of his curly hair,

17. And heaviness of his languid eyelid,
And the sickness of my ever weeping eyes.

18. When will a lover attain union,
And banish injustice with justice?

19. A crazed lover, robbed of patience and sanity,
Gloomy, distraught, wandering.

20. With the beauty of the tender eyes,
And the squeeze of pause and batted eyelashes,

21. With that sturdy, slender frame,
And saliva like bees' honey,

22. And a mouth that tempts the critic.
Ask the sun that rose upon us,

23. Then did not set,
Perhaps she will mourn those she killed,

24. With her eyes, unknowingly,
For the unjust may be entreated.

25. By the yellow beads,
And the hues of red chrysolite,

26. And the fires they ignited within my chest,
A passion not dormant.

27. A saliva that stirs desire,
Bringing gladness and grace,

28. Its temperament excites loved ones,
It imagines itself the eyes of a bear

29. And a pearl the jeweller has strung.
By the great constellation,

30. And Zamzam, Safa and Mina,
And those who uttered its name in prayer,

31. Circling the House then hastening,
Clothed, humble, upright.

32. He has become for us a successor,
Nizar, who built greatness,

33. And became the fifth of successors,
And revived their exemplary ways,

34. Thus with guidance he rose.
An imam whose glory is eternal,

35. A beacon who summoned determination,
And attained glory and nobility,

36. And became in the world a banner,
A brilliant star in the horizon.

37. When he aids kings to ascend,
And pours out the dew of bounty,

38. And does not let the destitute suffer,
And quenches the thirst of young and old,

39. And wards off enemies with vengeance.
He built his glory and honor,

40. And attained gratitude and praise,
And became in the world peerless,

41. And strengthened his rule so it spread,
And wove its collar a sculptor.

42. As if his brow were the moon,
And his resolute mind were fate,

43. So neither good fortune evades him,
Nor does misfortune take him unaware,

44. While atop glory’s summit encamped.
Great in his humility,

45. Noble in his making,
He gives generously to compliant ones,

46. And severs the rope of detractors,
Hovering over his loftiness.

47. The sword fears his supremacy,
The spear dreads his thrust,

48. Glory craves his pride,
Bounty approves his nature,

49. For his clouds are overwhelming.
When he is generous with his bounty,

50. And ambitious in his aspirations,
The stars walk at his feet,

51. And time serves him,
And Hashim's sun has dawned.

52. When his flood pours he does not stint,
And gives before being asked,

53. Generous, though he says little he acts,
And resembles his sent grandfather,

54. With knowledge beyond the world’s scholar.
Noble, his effort is appreciated,

55. Famed for his conduct,
And by his nobility spoken of,

56. Victorious over enemies,
With none to blemish his glory.

57. For God has granted him,
The essence of all he wished,

58. And preferred and exalted him,
And enabled him and pleased him,

59. With none to diminish his merit.
God saw him virtuous,

60. With no peer or equal,
So he apportioned fair shares,

61. And pleased bounty with recompense,
The dispenser of people’s provision.

62. When my poetry could not contain,
Your loftiness nor my mind,

63. I made praise like thankfulness,
For you are master of the age,

64. Of the Ghor, the Fatimid clan.
How can gratitude attain,

65. Rewarding you and remembering you,
When not even a drop can reach you,

66. Nor any sea resemble you,
So generous you overwhelm the avaricious.

67. He is the moon that rose,
He is the dawn that emerged,

68. He is the rain that gushed forth,
He is the sword that cutting swung,

69. With its two edges and sheath.
You have remained righteous,

70. And fortunate, ascendant,
Lofty, judicious, majestic,

71. Perfect, meritorious, splendid,
And most stubborn have your nostrils turned.
