1. I accept the decree of destiny's foreordained will
Though it may embitter the purity of my days

2. Can the people of this earth unravel
A knot tied from above the sky?

3. How far will events demolish my pillar
And strike me with injustice and aggression?

4. Time punishes me though I've committed no sin
And my own hand and loved ones desert me

5. And people conspire against me, though if one came
Seeking to harm me, I'd stain him with blood

6. My life is between a slanderer or an envier
And one who gloats at the length of my misery

7. So if a liar slanders me out of malice
I'll have patience for fate and destiny

8. I am not, oh Abu al-Mansur, save
As you know, true to my loyalty

9. Do you know how I came to follow you
And saw myself walking in your steps?

10. When you ruled me though people fled
And you became the caliph in this firmament

11. When I hoped for your victory, for I
Through your rule, attained my utmost hope

12. A hater comes to you plotting against me
Seeking to undermine me in secret

13. So he strips me and returns unharmed though
No bonds of affection stirred you against him

14. If you accept not his words, it's your right
To strike him down with the hand of affliction

15. You have fulfilled my hopes so complete
May you be safe and enjoy enduring fortune

16. And distract not my conscience with hearing
Slanderers whose structures are demolished

17. You've sweetened my life with bliss
And blessed me with comfort and prosperity

18. My life grows ever more sweet if
No immoral person embitters it with you
