1. Woe to him who cannot bear
The burden of his companions upon him,
١. ويلي على من لم يُطِقْ
خَصْرَاه حَمْلَ روادِفِهْ
2. And my cheeks complained
Of the burden of his words upon me.
٢. وشكَتْ شقائقُ وَجْنَتَيْ
هِ إليه حَمْلَ سوالفه
3. A young man in fine clothes
Melts among the other finely dressed.
٣. رَشَأٌ إذا لبِس المطا
رِفِ ذابَ بين مطارِفِهْ
4. And when his gaze is doubled,
Death fills his doubling.
٤. وإذا تضاعف لحظه
فالموت حشو تضاعُفِه
