1. You have charmed me since your eyes flashed with anger
And your slender waist bent gently.
١. أَدْنَفْتَني مذْ شَكَت ألحاظُك الدّنفا
وانقدّ خصرُك لِينا وانْثنى هَيَفَا
2. O you who portrayed the sun as a face and darkness as a veil,
And likened water to softness and air to luxury.
٢. يا من حكَى الشمسَ وجْهاً والدّجى طُرَراً
وأشبَه الماء لِينا والهوا تَرَفا
3. You whose glances depicted the gazelle turning,
And resembled the bending branch, pliant and curved.
٣. ومن حكت مقلتاه الظَّبْيَ مُلْتَفتاً
وأشبهَ الغصنَ تليينا ومُنعَطَفا
4. How did you demand a heart that knew no sleeplessness?
And how did you task a heart that never knew fatigue?
٤. كيف اقتضيتَ فؤاداً لم يبت قَنَصاً
وكيف كلَّفت قلباً لم يذب كَلَفا
5. My blood is noble blood that disdains baseness;
So do not oppose glory, morals, and honor.
٥. دمِي دمٌ عَلَوِيّ لا يُطَلُّ فلا
تحاربِ المجد والآدابَ والشرفا
6. The axis of the world is Hashim in excellence and nobility.
We are the axis of the lofty Hashimites, and that suffices.
٦. قُطْبُ الورى هاشمٌ فضلاً ومَعْلُوةً
نحن قطبُ أعالي هاشمٍ وكَفَى
7. The family of the Prophet, the sons of the successor,
The kinsmen of the Prophet, and the lords of nobility.
٧. آل النبيّ وأبناء الوصِيّ وإخ
وان النجِيّ وسادات الكرام وفا
