1. Your eloquence has reached its peak and more,
You've composed your words into precious gems of literature,

2. You've become so poetic you almost prevent anyone,
Who arranges rhymes in this world, from making poetry,

3. With understanding that nearly shows you what's under the darkness,
And reveals the hidden meanings with subtle rhythm,

4. And sublime insight that has unleashed,
For people, seas of rhetorical ways.

5. If your words were visible, they would be
Nothing but a bright morning in the eyes.

6. I still reap wisdom and gentleness,
Dear, since I saw those lines,

7. If the cup of wine intoxicates, your words have become,
Parts of it even more intoxicating,

8. Or the stars of eyes have become sorceresses,
So seasons of your poetry are more bewitching.

9. It's inconceivable that your words be compared to any like,
Or that your superior understanding be surpassed if it flows,

10. And even if Imru’ al-Qais grew arrogant and defiant,
To you in eloquence, he would recoil and retreat.

11. In knowledge you have trodden the stars in nobility,
And in status and manners you have surpassed all people.

12. I thank you for granting me favor, and whoever,
Meets kindness with affection will give thanks.

13. Although I have attained such great extent, I became,
Among the stars in the heavens, a blossoming cluster,

14. And reached what the wilderness cannot attain,
Of every merit when one makes the best selection,

15. And acquired the skill of words when none can acquire it,
And plucked the garden of understanding until it illuminated,

16. I see all the virtuous as stars,
And I see you alone a full moon that glows.
