To my efforts, and you said our weapon was the pen
١. وَزَعَمْتَ أَنَّكَ فِي الكِتَابَةِ مُدْرِكٌ
سَعْيِي وَقُلْتَ سِلاَحُنَا الأَقْلاَمُ
2. Alas! That is a mixed up profession
In it there is a clear morning and darkness
٢. هَيْهَاتَ تِلْكَ صِنَاعَةٌ مَمْزُوجَةٌ
فِيْهَا صَبَاحٌ وَاضِحٌ وَظَلاَمُ
3. This iron is the weapon of the heroes of battle
And with it our bloodletter sheds our blood
٣. هَذَا الحَدِيْدُ سِلاَحُ أَبْطَالِ الوَغَى
وَبِهِ يُرِيْقُ دِمَاءَنَا الحَجَّامُ
