1. If you strengthen power over me, though I'm humiliated,
You possess leadership and high standing,

2. O son of caliphs and glory,
While the exalted tied and untied,

3. And the lofty tree grew for them
From Adnan, and the noble lineage flows,

4. Between prophecy and the caliphate
Their glory settled, so they untied,

5. If any favor appeared
From me, who is like me to favor?

6. You made me intimate and then went out early with me
As one diminished, to rest and relax,

7. And you disparaged my state while you
Are to some people self-sufficient,

8. And I extended a shade from your sunlight upon me
While kindness is shade,

9. And you have an admirable character that
Cannot be blamed or found tedious,

10. So I swooned in a swoon of error
And the free swoons or stumbles,

11. With the cutting blade anger pierces
In which there are effects and declines,

12. And the glance stumbles then
Salvation reaches it, so it straightens,

13. And I thought of turning away from you in prophecy
So I began to stray from my rectitude,

14. And I remembered what you made me accustomed to
So I lingered in my determination, confused,

15. Then I returned the return of a grateful one
By your dues of affection that does not fail,

16. And I knew that separation from your like
Is not proper or permitted.
