1. Praise be to Allah, though my eyelids were stingy
And spared me no tears to heal my wounds.

2. Misfortune assails my heart and leaves me
If only it had taken what my hands reaped!

3. Had it looked away from what it insists on
It would not have touched the swollen eyelids.
