1. A grave disaster, overwhelming in affliction,
Among the momentous, tremendous calamities,

2. The eye sheds tears incessantly,
Its eyelids wounded, unceasingly,

3. Grieving at the loss of its dreams,
And anguish burns in its depths,

4. Since the star of the radiant Bahiyy dimmed,
Ali the Sublime over all people,

5. The fulfilling flag over all flags,
The Master son of the eminent Master,

6. Uniter of spoils over mankind,
Maker of swords and pens,

7. Authority and prohibition in disarray,
Order and law without system,

8. The light in horizons like darkness,
The threshold vulnerable without a protector,

9. Complaining to the swords and arms,
For the dispenser of justice has refused,

10. To wealth, for the prosperous and orphans,
What was concealed in the coffins,

11. That included swords and a ferocious army,
And a moon on the night of perfection,

12. And a sea of generosity, overflowing,
Who can match the noble script and speech,

13. And the annulment of strategy and composition,
And the authority’s arguments and judgments,

14. A knight in Egypt and Syria,
Or who would silence opponents resoundingly,

15. With a conclusive decision that heals all pain?
The death of nobility has burdened Islam,

16. And the days have criticized it with frowns and signs,
So it chose from it the finest arrows,

17. And death hastened to advance,
While the doves took over the dovecote,

18. And time is mighty and overwhelming,
Starting with the brave and eminent,

19. So surrender, Abu Issa, to the days,
For you are the best of people,

20. Of valor and pillars of glory,
You suffice for us among the generous.
