1. A doe moving amidst the black robes,
Her eyelids swollen with prostration,

2. Flowing with her cool waters,
Like the trickling of juice from the ripe dates,

3. True to her promise and her threat,
As though when she strides away to bring

4. A flock of ostriches scattering through the waste,
The vegetation has sprung from barrenness,

5. Swaying in its new raiment,
Burnished weapons and coats of mail,

6. I came to her before the lord's rising,
And before the birds' chanting of God's oneness,

7. Arranged like a newborn child,
Erect like a valiant hero,

8. Her eyes for the happy likener
Like two black beads on a necklace,

9. Raised for me the auspicious ascendant—
Wild cows blocked my way like secluded virgins

10. In the blossoming, fragrant lote-tree,
So I proved to be one whose oath is binding,

11. Until I stole the wind from afar
And after descending became ascending,

12. Then I fell like a crumbling rock,
Scattered like something unique,

13. Then her magnificent ram was left
To gore with his weapons and armor—

14. Claws sharper than iron—
Blessed is the unique one with no match,

15. Who throws at the festive day
From the Almighty and the Supreme

16. Provisioner of food and prostration.
