1. I wrote while roses and friends we love are with us,
And the conversationalist, with her perfumed fragrance,

2. Her companions converse with eloquent speech.
She has legs whiter than the does of Rome,

3. Bent like boughs of acacia by the winds.
A charming beauty called Najah,

4. But alas, her tryst holds no success.
She has eyes that stand arrayed on her brow,

5. Like the night encountered by dawn.
Adorned with belts, she’s of those

6. Who deserve necklaces and veils.
Radiant beams, honey bees’ combs,

7. Lawful drinks without any sin.
To the wine-pourer generosity with pouring,

8. For drinking, cheer and comfort.
Their drink is joy and recollection,

9. And their fervor, choice and suggestion.
Between the cups and tambourines is war,

10. And between the water and the winds, peace.
So we visited, shamelessly did we visit,

11. With your refinement, generosity and lenience.
