1. The zephyr abandoned me while I was exultant,
Though it may return, it hardly seems it will repent,

2. My youth started to fade after the first calamity,
And gray hair walked the path of my prime.

3. The days cast me amidst great adversities,
Brought about by events and misfortunes.

4. My God, the zephyr is enamored with me,
And desire draws it to me, subdued.

5. Your love has settled upon me secretly,
Proclaimed at dusk by your twilight eyes.

6. Why not hasten to dry the tears decisively?
But you have no luck in consolation.

7. After soaring aloft, it folded its wings again
A memory returns it, a vanquished passion.

8. Time has turned away from it, no longer pleased
A guard and a watcher over it stand.

9. Until when its regions came together for it,
Misfortunes began knocking at its door.

10. Take from your youth days for the zephyr,
Can you play when your temples turn white?

11. O man who hoards his wealth
While dispossessed, his honor plundered.

12. Spare all generosity, you have had your fill of it
Its auspicious and blessed progeny, Jacob.

13. That hope which seeks refuge in his generosity
From the vicissitudes of fate when they recur.

14. Like an old man with the bloom of youth adorning him,
The wisdom of maturity, while youth is fickle.

15. And when time assails you, its violence restrains
The noblest scion of Sa’dan’s clan.

16. The dew’s downpour drenches its chambers,
Smooth flowing, hopeful, revered.

17. It gives you wealth, able to afford it,
Not like one who gives while filled with rancor.

18. Eyes brimming over, sparing of his generosity,
A healer of life’s affairs, a sage.

19. Dividing, whether to grant a gift,
Or a calamity he is called to, so he answers.

20. Varying in opinion, inconsistent in passion,
In his affair, dissuasion and intimidation.

21. Serene when hearts are tranquil,
Restless, regrets secretly disturbing him.

22. It resolves complex matters, its eyes piercing,
And the anguished conscience finds its sanctuary spacious.

23. With resolve its intentions are bound to you,
They come after the matter while it is strange.

24. It executes matters with one resolved opinion,
Elevation and proximity overseen by it.

25. It directs visions into the conscience until
Experimentation unveils its secret.

26. Obdurate in views, moderate in desire,
Fierce against that which defeats men.

27. And it is as if its generosity poured upon you
A steady rain under which lovebirds trilled.

28. Scornful of reckless transgression into shame,
Its suspicions pierce the conscience till it whitens.

29. Of Sa’dan’s clan, whose diligence
Won them the guardianship and perfected education.

30. They excelled in benevolence at the summits of glory,
Eyes and hearts aspire to them.

31. I have returned to you, O Jacob, for fine deeds
I promised recently to repeat.

32. You gave me until I owned the expanse of wealth
Through your gift, and the hopeful does not despair.

33. And you promised me, then neglected your word with that
Which no reproach can match.
