1. My love for him is conveyed, and my passion,
And peace unto the home of peace is my greeting.

2. The morning breeze carries my fond wishes
To one whose pact my reproach cannot undo.

3. Describe for him some of my yearning - perhaps
He will be gentle with me in love and infatuation.

4. O spacious land of al-Zor, he is for me therein
A refuge, without whom sleep departs my eyes.

5. Of wondrous beauty, my patience for seeing him is revealed,
And his indifference towards me enhances my longing.

6. He spurns me if sadness departs from my eye,
And mingles my tears with the wine I drink.

7. My life and death are in his hands, as are my Heaven and Hell,
And in passion he is my wish and my doom.

8. In his distance is my demise and his nearness
My life and joy and the attainment of my hopes.

9. From his sweet wine bitterness, from his waist ailment
From the sickness of my eyelids, sickness.

10. So treat me with kindness, for in his affection
Lies solace for the love and passion within me.
