1. I prepared a dog to hunt the sultan
Adorned with collars and well-trained

2. Noble and wise, the best of company
Marked with two lines drawn line by line

3. With smooth fur and hanging jowls
When he struts his imposing figure

4. You'd say two leather straps, well-crafted
Of fine Edomite leather, cut and given

5. He'd chase when the terrain gets rough
With thighs like pillars, body alert

6. Flapping his ears, energetic and keen
As if impatient, eager for the chase

7. No sooner would his paws hit the ground
Than off he'd sprint, chasing anything spotted

8. Swifter than the cry of hunters, "Over here!"
He takes down prey on barren hills

9. Meeting the Ruler in high spirits
Shattering bones and piercing hides

10. Frightening hunters, resolute and brave
When the pack raises dust in the fray

11. So praise be to God for what He has given
