1. O you who lies between rumpled robes
And lute held by a tuneful captive maid:
١. أَيا مَن بَينَ باطِيَةٍ وَزِقٍّ
وَعودٍ في يَدَي غانٍ يُغَنّي
2. If you persist in doting on your love
And treating her so gently--have a care
٢. إِذا لَم تَنهَ نَفسَكَ عَن هَواها
وَتُحسِنُ صَونَها فَإِلَيكَ عَنّي
3. For I am filled to overflowing now
With sins and their delights. We're quits, I swear!
٣. فَإِنّي قَد شَبِعتُ مِنَ المَعاصي
وَمِن لَذّاتِها وَشَبِعنَ مِنّي
4. What sight more ugly than a dotard lewd
Who can't restrain himself in ripe old age!
٤. وَمَن أَسوا وَأَقبَحُ مِن لَبيبٍ
يُرى مُتَطَرِّباً في مِثلِ سِنّي
