1. And a blamer blames me for my choice,
Of a handsome, brilliant lad like a blade unsheathed,

2. And she said “You are deprived and unsuccessful
In attaining the fragrance of union with singers.”

3. So I said to her “You are ignorant, I am not like
Those who deceive themselves with nonsense.”

4. “Should I choose the seas over the land,
And sea monsters over gazelles of the plain?”
