1. God is the Master of my dinars and my Master
With His eyes my morning in which I rise and my evening
١. اللَهُ مَولى دَنانيرٍ وَمَولائي
بِعَينِهِ مَصبَحي فيها وَمَمسائي
2. I suffered from love of Her two fires, one
Between my ribs and another between my intestines
٢. صَليتُ مِن حُبِّها نارَينِ واحِدَةً
بَينَ الضُلوعِ وَأُخرى بَينَ أَحشائي
3. And I've burnt my tongue from explaining with it
So nothing expresses me but my gestures
٣. وَقَد حَمَيتُ لِساني أَن أُبينَ بِهِ
فَما يُعَبِّرُ عَنّي غَيرُ إيمائي
4. Oh woe to my family! I've wasted away before their eyes
On the mattress and they don't know what my illness is
٤. يا وَيحَ أَهلِيَ أَبلى بَينَ أَعيُنِهِم
عَلى الفِراشِ وَما يَدرونَ ما دائي
5. If your asceticism in the world were like your asceticism in
Uniting with me I would undoubtedly walk on water
٥. لَو كانَ زُهدُكِ في الدُنيا كَزُهدُكِ في
وَصلي مَشَيتِ بِلا شَكٍّ عَلى الماءِ
