1. When Abu Al-Hayja
Brought knights to Al-Hayja

2. And the banner of death
Marched ahead of the Sheikh as a declaration

3. And its war flared up flaming fires
Baring ferocious fangs and teeth

4. We made bows our hands
And arrows of bows our amusement

5. And offered instead of arrows and spears
Basil and thyme

6. So our war became intimacy
And we became boon companions

7. With lads who see killing
As a sacrifice of pleasure

8. When they beat the drum
We beat the flutes

9. And set up tents
Of various colors

10. And stones of catapults
Are apples of Lebanon to us

11. And the carrier of our war is one who pours
Wine making us drink

12. Urging the cup to connect
Our latter to our former

13. You see this one slain
And that one dragging drunk

14. So this is no war
That grieves people out of aggression

15. With it we kill them, then
With it we publish our killing
