1. If you abandon me after union, I will still quench my thirst,
For the clear wine did not abandon you, it is pure nectar.

2. Take it from the generous vines as a gift,
Like the redness in the rooster's eye.

3. It is a drink which if mixed with water,
Pearls are born from them both.

4. The sun's cooking did not cook it in a pot,
With water, nor did fire scorch it.

5. The likes of it were articles of trade for Chosroes,
Merchants trafficking in it for Anushirwan.

6. When the intoxicated begins it in the morning,
Drunkenness takes flight from his joints.

7. Bring me then, let me sing the verses of Nuṣayb,
For the circulating cup has come my way.

8. Were it not that some would say, "Nuṣayb is drunk,"
I would say it openly - the young are drunk!

9. By my life, every wronged one whose rights were lost,
If oppressed, has no redress.
