Reminding my heart of its inner agitations

7. He came walking in the darkness
Like the moon walking amidst its entourage

8. So I said when he appeared openly
Like a sun unveiled amongst its clothes

9. He spent the night quenching me with his saliva
Mixing it for me with the cold of his fangs

10. And a friend whose nobility the times witness
With his guidance an adornment to his loved ones

11. I said to him take it, Abu Jaโfar
For the dawn has draped itself over his door

12. And the darkness of night has passed you by
And the veils of its clothes have lifted

13. So he chained the wine despite his resentment
And passed it amongst us after his sulking

14. As if the cup when beaten
A lantern mid its niche

15. And the strings of his oud sounded
When he strummed the plectrum on it

16. Then he sang when his cup flowed
Circulating amongst his friends

17. It reminded my heart of its inner agitations
Of love for whom I have become most ecstatic
