1. I am occupied from the blamers
With basil, sweet basil, and jasmine,

2. I drink it pure; and if it is harsh
I mix it with water till it turns gentle.

3. With a noble and beautiful-faced one
Who captivated my heart with his love held ransom,

4. From the sons of al-Mahdi in an exalted place
Refined, mixing sorrow with gentleness,

5. He entertains me and walks with me
With cheeks like my father’s in their roundness

6. Glory to Him who subjugated this for us
One day though we were not foreordaining it.
