1. A sheet of paper can defeat me,
While all my friends have reams of paper;
١. أُريدُ قِطعَةَ قِرطاسٍ فَتُعجِزُني
وَجُلَّ صَحبِيَ أَصحابُ القَراطيسِ
2. May God spare them out of love and care,
Though they are wasteful like spendthrifts.
٢. لَحاهُمُ اللَهُ مِن وُدٍّ وَمَعرِفَةٍ
إِنَّ المَياسيرَ مِنهُم كَالمَفاليسِ
